No area has been hit harder by the many years of public sector restraint and reduction than the administration function. As organizations of policy, however, no single function is more universal and critical in the public sector! This learning event is designed to teach administrators the key areas of competencies that they need to become more effective in their jobs and open up a whole new series of career progression opportunities. During this two-day workshop, you will learn about and apply administration skills, concepts, and principles through a number of dynamic lectures, interactive class discussions, and practical hands-on activity-based learning exercises.

By The End of the Workshop You Will Be Able To:
  • Apply time management and organization techniques into your daily routine for increased personal and professional productivity
  • Develop your assertiveness in dealing with people in a variety of situations
  • Identify strategies to communicate more effectively

You Will Learn To:

  • Understand various time management concepts and how they can affect your life take the 'Life Balance' quiz
  • Set goals to achieve more satisfaction in both your personal and professional life
  • Plan your work and consistently review your plan's effectiveness
  • Identify the '3 Types of Daily Work' and fit them all into your calendar
  • Use the '4 Factors for Determining What to Do' and apply the '80/20 Rule' to focus your energy effectively
  • Systemize and multi-task
  • Organize your workspace to enhance productivity and focus
  • Manage your phone calls, emails, and meetings
  • Develop 'Productivity Power Tools' (Learn how to say no, estimate time, anticipate problems, and use lists effectively)
  • Use the 'Personality Style' questionnaire to understand your own communication style and to develop strategies for communicating with other personality styles
  • Communicate with subordinates, peers, superiors and clients in a respectful, assertive manner
  • Give and respond to criticism, overcome objections, negotiate and resolve conflict
  • Relax, rejuvenate and reward yourself!
